Thumbs up to all the plus size women who keep changing the narrative daily. We’ve had series of plus size models, fashionistas and body positive activist come out to recreate campaign photoshoots as well as regular day to day fashionable outfits by straight sized models and individuals proving time again that every woman has the right to wear whatever she wants without feeling out of place. Now, body positive activist and blogger, Carmen Rene has just recreated a side by side photo of herself with Kim Kardashians latest fragrance campaign shoot. The photos which Carmen made sure were not edited shows her pose completely nude in the exact same pose as Kim.
This untouched recreation speak volumes and while she might not have a fragrance she is promoting or a bottle made in her figure, the word has been put out! A fragrance bottle definitely needs to be made in a plus size figure.
In the past, plus size model Diana Sirokai has brought together other plus models to recreate Calvin Klein campaign shoot of the Kardashian’s, she also recreated a stunning side by side recreation of two sultry photos of herself with Gigi Hadid and Kim Kardashian. Curvy fashionista, Katie Sturino is also known for her consistent recreations of statement fashion pieces won by celebrities.
Sharing the picture on her Instagram account @eatthecaketoo, Carmen says:
“One of these bodies, a large part of our society will deem as “perfect”. My body is empowered by the opportunity to share a different reality. PERFECT: “having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.” Stop striving to be perfect because guess what, you are there! What a beautiful definition 💕. Today, at this very moment my body is as good as it possibly can be. I can’t change it today, and tomorrow it may be different, it will still be perfect. There is no body better than the next. There is no one body that is “perfect”. There is your body, unique, worthy, desirable and perfect. All body’s are good bodies.”
Carmen had together with other plus size models previously recreated the Swimwear Ad by Solid & Striped that featured only straight sized models. With the photo she shared she said;
“When I first saw the swim ad at the bottom for @solidandstriped I was so disappointed. If your body looks like that there is certainly nothing wrong with that that, however, that body type represents about 2% of America. The photo at the top is our challenge to swimwear companies everywhere! Imagine seeing an ad and being able to say “hey! My body looks like that!” How much more empowered would you feel? How many young girls would get to grow up with the representation in the media that many of us never had? I’m so proud to be part if this”
