The most beautiful runway in Africa undoubtedly belonged to the recently concluded Arise Fashion Week that held at Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. International designers of immense talent, photographers, bloggers and supermodels Naomi Campbell, Oluchi Orlandi, Ojy Okpe & Iman Imaam were just a few of the satorial pack gathered this weekend in the name of African fashion empowerment.
Of course, curvy fashion was well represented by the Aboutthatcurvylife Collective IV that made its Arise Fashion Week debut, presenting three womenswear brands namely FIA, Sally Bawa and Manoshia who all gave a good account of themselves while also attracting some of the curvy Nigerian celebrities who hit the runway for plus fashion, femininity and diversity.
It was a moment of empowerment for millions of women across the continent as these diverse body types walked for their respective designers to the delight of their fans, the audience present, the cameras and most importantly, the women underrepresented by fashion both within and outside the continent.
Radio presenter at Beat FM and founder of Gbemisoke Shoes, Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi hit the runway in a jumpsuit with striped triangle detail from FIA which accentuated her famous curves.

“This was a spectacular experience. I enjoyed being in the glamorous world of fashion and I completely respect how hard models work. I’m grateful for the opportunity to walk the runway.”

“The experience was eye opening and totally unique. It was great to be a part of what happens backstage, up until the amazing show that the audience see. Models and Designers go through a lot and definitely need to be respected more!”
TV host, fashion influencer and plus size model, Taje Prest was absolutely angelic in this all-white mid- length gown with a deep V-neckline, embellished pockets and floral head piece by Sally Bawa.
News Anchor for LITV Daily, Favour Ogaga Otaotu was also present on the ATCL collective wearing a pair of green pants and white top sporting a cape attachment.
