Asos’s most recent swimsuit campaign has gained major popularity points after they featured plus-size model Vivian Eyo-Ephraim in a yellow bikini for the brand’s photo-shoot. Social media has been agog with mixed feelings after seeing a plus size model’s untouched or edited photos at the forefront of an ASOS campaign.
There has been a surge of positive responses from shares, re-posting, retweets to loads of likes from people who feel they can relate to the model with a body type most women are familiar with.
This won’t be the first time ASOS would be proving how diverse and inclusive they are when creating their fashion apparels. Last year, they shocked people when they photographed models of different shapes and sizes with stretch marks and cellulite in full glare in their fashion campaign.
Vivian, a relatively new face on the plus modelling scene definitely brought her A-game to the campaign but never expected the positive aftermath that followed. She took to her Instagram page to express gratitude saying “Thank you ALLLL so much for the messages, the likes, the comments, the retweets, everything!!! I’m truly appreciative, shocked, excited & cannot wait to represent more women & make everyone even more proud.”
The fact that this ASOS campaign has got so much love and positive vibes in its wake is proof that the plus size fashion world is still in dire need of diversity and there is a lot more that should /can be done.
