Winning! Bikiya Graham Douglas Receives a Special Recognition Award (and on her birthday no less)

Bikiya Graham Douglas, the Nigerian thespian and silver screen goddess, who is equal parts talent and abundant curves, was the recipient of a Special recognition award bestowed by NANTAP (National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners). She recently wrote and produced a play that was received with critical acclaim titled Our Son The Minister. Bikiya has also made a mark in her recurring role on Battleground, a drama series that shows on DSTV’s Africa Magic Entertainment.

The NANTAP awards took place at the Emerald event centre in Uyo with some of Nigeria’s finest veteran performers in the film and entertainment industry in attendance. Bikiya was given “The Award for Excellence to the Creative Industry” in recognition of her commitment, promotion and contribution to the growth, development and sustenance of live theatre in Nigeria. The first lady of Akwa-Ibom state, Martha Udom Emmanuel was also appointed the NANTAP Culture Ambassador for Theatre at the award ceremony.

Bikiya gave a rousing acceptance speech after receiving her award saying;  “I had big dreams, I risked it all and God made this possible. To all the dreamers, your day will come. Work hard, work smart and never give up. You are enough, take over the world”. She flew back into Lagos just in time to celebrate her birthday with friends and family at the Lagos Theatre Festival Week.

Girl, we love you and congratulate you for a job well done!
