We can’t even tell you how excited we are to finally be joining the Social Media Week Lagos, 2018. You’ve spoken, we’ve listened and we’re presenting a kick-ass panel that will be addressing body image issues as affected by social media today. The global theme for SMW 2018, “Closer,” will explore the intensifying conflict between community and individualism.
Africa’s favorite body positive platform, About That Curvy Life will be hosting a speakeasy workshop tagged Social Media, Body Image & Confidence. We believe these issues have never been more polarizing and evident than now in this age of Click and share. Our speakers are the founder of About That Curvy Life, Latasha Ngwube, Comedienne/Actor/Radio/tv, Omotunde Adebowale-David (better known as Lolo) as well as Designer, Uche Uba.
Social Media Week is a global week-long IRL x online event that provides the ideas, trends, insights and inspiration to help people and businesses understand how to achieve more in a hyper-connected world. The event features a central stage for keynotes and panels, multiple rooms for workshops, masterclasses and presentation and an area dedicated to co-working, networking and interactive installations. At its core, SMW helps people and organizations connect through collaboration, learning and the sharing of ideas and information.
“As Africa moves rapidly towards digitization across sectors, we must ensure people remain a part of the equation. Inclusion and our ability to innovate collaboratively locally and across borders is of the utmost importance. Our prosperity as a continent depends on it.” — Ngozi Odita, SMW Lagos Executive Director.
The event has been scheduled for the 26th of February at Landmark Centre, Water Corporation Road Oniru, Lagos for 4:30pm – 5:30pm.
