The body positive movement keeps gaining solid ground as more plus size women are changing the narrative by making exciting and creative moves, becoming more aware of their power and inspiring women of all shapes and sizes. ICYMI, Diana Sirokai did a stunning side by side recreation of two sultry photos of herself with Gigi Hadid and Kim Kardashian.
Diana and a few other gorgeous plus size women have come together to recreate the recently released Calvin Klein ads shot by ace photographer Willy Vanderperre. The latest installment of Calvin Klein’s global, family-driven “#MyCalvins” campaign, featured all the celebrity sisters of the Kardashian and Jenner clan.
Former model and New York-based photographer Karizza directed the recreation shoot involving plus models Diana Sirokai, Daisy Christina, Denise Mercedes and Tammy B. The four models are posed in similar positions, but instead opted for black Calvin Klein sports bras and briefs.
Talking to People magazine:
“Our recreations of celebrities’ fashion campaigns is only the beginning [of a] way to show that plus-size girls can do the same and look great. And choosing a big famous brand [like Calvin Klein] and popular celebrities [like the Kardashian-Jenners] gets more [attention] because girls all over the world dream to represent a big fashion brand,” Karizza tells People Style about the shoot’s inspiration. “And we are showing them how it would be [with curvier girls]!”
One of the curvy models, Denise Mercedes expressed her joy after the shoot on her Instagram with an exciting statement that said, “Allllll bodies are beautiful!! .
Photographer Karizza said to People magazine;
“It is a totally organic project, but we hope that Calvin Klein will notice our message and give the chance to plus size girls to be in their campaigns and create a line for them as well,”
This is a call to action for more brands to include plus sizes into their production and designs. We absolutely love this. Keep it up girls!
