Barbie recently hosted a video series for Teen Vogue where she talked about the various facets of her own mantra of body positivity. Barbie has high following on her Instagram page probably due to how real she is, part of that being having completely un- retouched or enhanced images on her handle.
Barbie tell a dynamic story in as series of videos with Teen Vogue about her journey of body acceptance, embracing her curves and how struggling to find the right weight or shape can be tied to our happiness. ‘I learned to not give a f**k when I started modeling in high school,’ Barbie explains in a behind-the-scenes video from the campaign.
The 19-year-old, who recently appeared alongside fellow curvy star Iskra Lawrence in some stunning unretouched ads for Aerie, took the center stage in the Fall 2016 campaign Missguided.
The model goes on to share her top tips for being confident and comfortable in your own skin, referring to them as her ‘babe power commandments’.
‘Be loud, don’t give a f**k about it,’ she starts, before adding: ‘Don’t be scared to be intimidating. Be the center of attention if you want to, don’t be scared that you’re too much.’
She concludes: ‘Express yourself the way you want to. People are always going to have their opinions about what is classy and ladylike, but who gives a f**k about that really?’
But Barbie admits that she hasn’t always been so confident and happy about her appearance, explaining in the video that, if she could give some advice to her younger self, it would be not to ‘stress’ so much about life and learn to accept that everything will be OK in the end.
